Dear Colleague:
Welcome to the 2009-2010 school year. ALL REGISTRATIONS WILL CONTINUE TO BE DONE THROUGH solochair.com, which is an online registration site. NOTE: Elementary Chorus Registration will also be done on solochair.com this year
When you are ready to register your students, go to www.solochair.com. If you do not already have an account, you will need to create one. It is important that you correctly list your county as “Orange.” If you had previously registered on solochair.com for a NYSSMA festival, you may use your current log-in if you had noted Orange County as your local county at that time. After you have logged in you will see a screen with all of the festivals that you can register for. Click “register” and you are on your way! I suggest that you register at solochair.com at your earliest convenience. Additionally, you will need to submit the commitment contracts/medical forms to me before the deadline. Please send them (US Mail) in alphabetical order by students’ last names. ALL FORMS CAN BE FOUND ON OUR WEBSITE AT www.orangecmeany.org I will only clear your entries for scheduling once I have a copy of the commitment contract and your OCMEA dues have been paid. You may print a copy of your registration from solochair.com and I will notify you when you are cleared to check your times.
Please note your specific deadlines at the end of this letter. Solochair.com will not allow you to enter your information after the deadline. You will find all information necessary for registering your specific festival at orangecmeany.org. Please read carefully and adhere to the audition guidelines found below.
Please adhere to the stated quotas for instrument sign-ups. If you are unsure about those quotas please check the website. If you enter more students than you are allowed OCMEA will not clear those students for scheduling. If you have any questions please email ctaborsk@mw.k12.ny.us. Please remind your colleagues of upcoming deadlines as we are all busy. If you have a new teacher in your district please help them through this process.
Sincerely, Christopher Taborsky OCMEA All-County Festival Audition Scheduler

OCMEA All-County Audition Guidelines
OCMEA has an established contract with its respective member districts, and therefore each district’s music teachers, regarding school participation. The following guidelines delineate the responsibilities of the music educator who wishes to engage in festival participation:
1. A student’s school must have paid the district participation fee for the current year.
2. A student applicant must be a member in good standing of his/her corresponding school performing ensemble at the time of the audition and at the time of the applicant’s membership in the All-County ensemble.
· A choral applicant must be a member of his/her school chorus where such chorus exists.
· A string applicant must be a member of his/her school orchestra where such orchestra exists.
· A wind or percussion applicant must be a member of his/her school band or orchestra where such band or orchestra exists.
· An instrumental jazz applicant must be a member of his/her school instrumental jazz ensemble where such instrumental jazz ensemble exists.
3. Each Solo application may only be submitted by the student’s school music director. This will register the student for the solo festival and qualify him/her for possible selection to an All-County ensemble. Submitting a student for audition and possible selection to an All County ensemble is exclusive to member schools, and not available to private teacher-members. Students of private music teachers or home educated students must submit solo applications through the student's appropriate public, private, or parochial school which has paid the annual School Participation Fee. The only exception to this rule is for private string students whose member school district does not have a string program. Their private studio teacher may submit their application if that teacher has a string studio membership with OCMEA in good standing.
4. Each teacher submitting student names for All-County Festivals must do so at solochair.com by the deadline and send, via US Mail, one hard copy of each commitment contract/medical form to the Festival Audition Scheduler. No late registrations or substitutions are permitted.
5. DEADLINES are FINAL. OCMEA publishes all deadlines and sends an email deadline reminder to their teachers, and recommends that each teacher submit their student names early to avoid any difficulty accessing the internet.
All forms and a complete listing of individual solo titles can be found on the OCMEA website at www.orangecmeany.org. This listing will hopefully prevent any teacher from preparing a student on the incorrect solo. Due to copyright issues, OCMEA will no longer provide copies of music. Questions regarding the rotation music should be directed to Ralph Wagner at Pine Bush High School
As our county continues to grow, we encourage you to sign-up only the most capable and prepared students for these auditions who are ready to follow through with the audition. Our judges are simply too busy to hear students who are unprepared or do not follow through. This year’s required audition material is as follows:
